Use ShiftStay as one source of information—not as a substitute for your own verification and judgment.
Use ShiftStay messaging while getting to know someone. Avoid sending Social Security numbers, banking credentials, license images, passwords, or sensitive medical information in chat.
Confirm the property, owner or manager, written lease terms, deposit instructions, and who will receive payment before sending money. Do not rely on urgency or screenshots as proof.
Use blocking for unwanted contact and reporting for suspected fraud, harassment, threats, impersonation, unsafe behavior, or misleading listings. Review disputes are available for eligible property-owner reviews.
Be cautious with wire transfers, gift cards, cryptocurrency, payment links from unknown sources, or requests to pay before you can reasonably verify the person and property.
For roommate, friendship, or Dating connections, consider meeting in a public place first, tell someone where you are going, and use your own transportation when possible.
Verification indicates only the specific check ShiftStay says was completed. It does not guarantee identity forever, character, professional standing, property quality, or safety.
ShiftStay is not an emergency service. If you believe someone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services. For non-emergency ShiftStay concerns, use the in-app report tools and Help & Support.
